Word and Question: the poet's parlour game
If you have never played word and question, you have suffered a tragedy easily remedied. Strong-arm a few friends, sit in a circle, and provide each with paper and writing implements. Let each write a Word at the top of their paper, and fold it over so as to render the word invisible. Pass the papers to your neighbor on the right. Let each write a Question under the fold hiding the Word. Roll up the papers and distribute at random among the players. If a player gets the paper with their Question, they must switch with another. It begins. Let each write a Poem, whether sonnet or haiku or freeform or what have you. It Must: answer the Question and contain the Word. Gather the papers and read aloud. Laugh till you cry. Try to guess the author for added interest!
